I have had a person or two ask me to say a prayer and have passed the honor on.

I do ask them to say whatever blessing they will offer. Again – I sit quietly until they’re done. In both cases, if someone wants to discuss my atheism after the prayer (“so – you don’t believe in god?? Have you considered…”) I always say “there are things I never discuss at dinner, even with my best friends, and religious differences are one of those things. If you’d like to talk about it later, that would be fine.” If they press I always say “I respected your tradition. Would you kindly respect mine?”
