BTW, the March Slam Buckie Shirt besides I will buy this Jews of Russia is a minority of the Jewish nation, even a minority of the Ashkenazis. There are about 5 mil Sephardic Jews mostly in France and Israel, and US. Then also Jews from the ancient communities in Iran (like my in-laws), Yemen (who kept original Hebrew accent), farsi speaking Jews of Bukhara, Mountain Jews of the Caucasus who speak a dialect of farsi, Georgian speaking Jews from Georgia Why would Jews want to go back to Russia? I suppose you mean full Jews, not those whose grandparent was a Jew. Those people have hard time fitting in and adopting Hebrew. They may go back. We are so different in mentality and history. In fact the only link is I understand your language and mentality (as opposed to people in the West). The younger generation has nothing to do with Russia though many can speak Russian albeit with an accent. Now, there is a zero chance a young generation will move to Russia. My son visited Russia. Though he could communicate with the locals, it is a strange foreign country for him.
There are some poor souls from older generation whose jobs are tied to the March Slam Buckie Shirt besides I will buy this Russian language and who can not find employment in Israel or US. But they are very few. The likes of Albatz (curiously it is a sephardic name), Shenderovich. Paraphrasing Agatha Christie’s Poirot we can stay friends but must go our separate ways. We can have good trade relations, joint projects, if they are win-win. Legally speaking, the Jewish Autonomous Oblast is just a normal region of Russia. Hebrew and Yiddish are not recognized as regional languages and they are not used by the regional government. But there are still remnants of the Soviet Jewish cultural institutions, and they are still supported by the government, to a degree. For example, the JAO still has a local newspaper that focuses on Jewish culture and events and publishes some articles in Yiddish. What ? I bet you’re ticked off that they live in Israel but you’re also ticked that some still live in Russia ? Why are there Russians living in other countries? Why does ANYONE live where their ancestors DIDN’T live ?
