If needed or wanted to continue to work, then they can make that choice. I think it’s more like the younger generations that don’t have a good work ethic. We were raised to work hard for everything and if you wanted to have nice things then you had to work for it. I worked as a GM in Hospitality for 30 years and I can tell you the people that I hired all had good work ethics or I terminated them. I worked sometimes 16 hour days many 12 hour days. Seniors are not lazy. I’m going on 72 and am a full time caregiver to my disabled spouse plus I work full time so I don’t know how you have come to the conclusion the elderly are too lazy to work. I’m a pensioner; I’m 81 years old; my house is paid for; my children are grown and on their own – I’m even a grandfather. Do you really thing I need or should find employment that will keep you from having a job? Because, at the age of 81, I’ll bet good money that I could out-work you any day of the week. Because we already worked our asses off for 45 years, saved our money, raised our kids, paid off our mortgages, and have EARNED our retirement. We also paid into Social Security all those 45 years so now we are benefiting from OUR tax money WE PAID INTO IT.
